Food Journaling With A Purpose
What is the purpose of keeping a food journal? Is it lifestyle or a commitment?
Food journaling can be a lifestyle or a commitment because they are both goal oriented.
I like to think of food journaling as a commitment and purpose to help identify our mood and behavior towards the foods we eat daily. We recognize that food can shape our behavior, both good and bad habits are formed. Food journaling are words that occupy the space on paper to create and identify a pattern of behaviors to overcome or embrace.
Food journaling with purpose is, Accountability, Self Awareness, and Health Improvement . This mindset will help to identify and overcome unwanted eating habits, and stop enervating habits that can rob you of nerve energy.
Accountability can be obtained each day with a pen and paper. Writing down what you are eating at each meal, starting with breakfast. Identify how much food is on your plate at each meal and writing down your choice of foods for breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and snack. A weekly meal plan can help avoid eating foods that are not healthy..
Self Awareness, is obtained when individuals are eating foods according to their likes and dislikes of food choices. Establishing an awareness of foods that provide the right amount of macronutrients, and micronutrients, that include the right amount of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Identify foods that help with healing, and restoring health.
Health Improvement is the goal and purpose for a healthy outcome. Food journaling can improve ones health by eliminating foods that cause irritation, constipation, chronic acidosis, indigestion, and inflammation. Getting to the root cause of a chronic health condition by recording foods that are consumed at each meal will help to identify which foods are good and what foods to avoid.
In conclusion, Food journaling with a purpose is a personal goal.
Writing down foods that are consumed on a daily and weekly basis can help balance your diet. Recording each meal, provide a summary (ie), breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pay attention to your mood and behavior before each meal and after each meal. Write down what you are eating and how much.
