Understanding Nutritional Therapy.

Updated: Mar 24, 2021

What is Nutritional Therapy, and how does it help the body to heal naturally?

Nutrition Therapy is a holistic approach that focuses on using nutrients to correct medical conditions. It is provided as a "bioindividual, foundational approach to nutrition and wellness that starts with nutrition as a way to heal and rebalance the body's innate ability to heal. Supporting the body's innate ability to heal prevents disease and illness." Nutrition is the primary focus to improve physical, mental and psychological well-being, to optimize health. The Nutrition Therapist is a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner. Some Nutrition Therapist are Board Certified Holistic Natural Health Practitioner, Holistic Physician, H.D., Nutrition Doctor, and Non-Medical Doctors.

A Nutritional Therapist is someone who is interested in helping people overcome illness to preserve their health through proper foods, stress management, weight management, exercise, meditation, and to gain awareness of the mind, body and spirit.

The Holistic Nutrition Therapy approach can also include different methods for healing, such as acupuncture, aromatherapy, massage therapy, guided imagery, and phsical therapy as needed for Holistic Natural Health and Healing interventions. It is the mind body experience that will allow the body to heal itself by understanding its organic nature to use food as medicine

As a Board Certified Holistic Natural Health Practitioner and Nutrition Doctor, I have identified 7 fundamental health concerns to demonstrate that the body is a self-healing, and a self-regulated organism, that will work best when we do not interfere with its physiological, and/or biological functions. However, we must look into the body for answers; under normal and abnormal health conditions, by observing how it lives and responds to food.

The 7 fundamental health concerns are the following:

  1. Acid-Base-Balance

  2. Acidosis and Alkalosis

  3. Digestion

  4. Mineral Balance

  5. Inflammation

  6. Blood Sugar Regulation

  7. Mind, and Body Balance

When getting the proper nutrients needed for the body, the frame work for health and nutrition will be the primary focus of a nutrient dense diet that can assist in healing.
