What's On Your Plate?

Let it be a healthy plate of macronutrients, carbohydrates, proteins, and fats, and micronutrients that include vitamins and minerals that your body needs. They play an important role in growth, bone health, fluid balance and several other processes. There are so many food choices and different menu plans. Imagine a plate assorted with an array of colors; purple, orange, green, red and yellow. A plate of fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds and fish tacos with salsa and cilantro. A plate of kale, spinach, blue berries, and pineapples, with a slice of lemon to represent clean eating. Our way of eating has become a food thing. We love to share our recipes, and stories about our favorite foods to eat. So, make your plate complete and healthy.


The US News had analyzed over 35 diets with input from a panel of health experts and came up with the Best Diets in 2020. You may be surprised to know that the American Standard Diet, also known as S.A.D., did not make the list. I have listed 7 of the 35 Best Diets in 2020 as a resource for your plate.


Mediterranean Diet, has emphasis on fruits, vegetables, olive oil, fish and other healthy fare, and is known to be eminently sensible. Carbohydrates 50%, protein 15%, and fats 35%.


Dash Diet, fights high blood pressure and was praised for its nutritional completeness, safety ability to prevent or control diabetes, and role in supporting heart health. Carbohydrates 55%, proteins 18%, fats 27%.


Flexitarian Diet, emphasizes fruits, veggies, whole grains and plant-based protein is a smart and healthy choice. Carbohydrates 57%, protein 16%, and fats 27%.


Mayo Clinic Diet, aims to make healthy eating a lifelong habit, and earned praise for its nutrition and safety. Carbohydrates 57%, proteins 21%, and fats 22%.


Mind Diet, aims to prevent mental decline, and. "overall, this is a healthy and sensible plan that has science behind it per US News. Carbohydrates 38%, protein 26%, and fats 33%.


Vegetarian Diet, is strong in heart health and nutritional completeness and a healthy diet overall. Carbohydrates 65%, protein 20%, fats 15%.


Alkaline Diet, balancing your pH through diet, leads to an array of health benefits. Carbohydrates 80%, protein 10%, fats 10%.


Keto Diet, high-fat, low carb diet that's designed to make your body enter a state where it's relying on fat for energy. Carbohydrates 35%, protein 40%, fats 25%.
